What happens if I fail to pay?

Maybe you've been unable to pay your premium or a bill for healthcare costs at some point. You will then receive a reminder that you can still use to make your payment. Make sure that bills do not pile up and avoid falling behind on payments. We would be happy to help you if you need it.

You’ll be charged extra if you don’t pay a reminder on time

You will receive up to 3 reminders. Each reminder will ask you to pay within 15 days. If you pay the 1st reminder on time, you have nothing to worry about. However, if you don’t pay on time, you will have to pay an extra €20. To avoid falling behind on payments, try not to let bills pile up.

Did you receive a reminder for both your premium and healthcare costs?

Please pay your premium first if you can as being behind in premium payments has greater consequences. If you don't pay the 2nd reminder on time and you pay every 6 months or annually, you will lose your discount and you'll be switched to monthly payments.

Here are the consequences if you don't pay the 3rd premium reminder on time:

  • We will engage a collection agency or bailiff.
  • If you have supplementary insurance and/or dental insurance, we will cancel it, including for any co-insured family members covered under the policy. You can only apply for new supplementary insurance starting from the 1st of January of the following year.
  • You are not allowed to change healthcare insurers, even if you haven't paid the collection costs and interest. This is stipulated by law. Healthcare insurers exchange information if you are behind on payments.
  • We will report you to the CAK if you have outstanding premium debts for at least 6 months. Read more about overdue payments.
