You can go to any hospital
You will be reimbursed up to a maximum of 100% of the prevailing market rate at any hospital. The prevailing market rate is the rate that is considered normal in the Dutch market for a specific treatment. This means that we don't fully reimburse unreasonably high amounts. The statutory rate is the rate set by the government. This freedom of choice applies only to care covered by the basic insurance, and you usually pay the mandatory excess first.
Nearly all care providers are reimbursed up to 100%
With the exception of mental health care and district nursing, we reimburse non-contracted mental health care and district nursing up to 85% of the average contracted rate. If you go to a care provider with a contract, the costs are covered in full.
Are you receiving mental health treatment or using district nursing?
If you had Basis Exclusief in 2023, we will reimburse the costs in full in 2024 during the transition period if your care provider didn't have a contract. The transition period ended on the 1st of January 2025, and we reimburse 85% of the average contracted rate.
Why is Basis Exclusief a combination policy?
For each basic insurance policy, we must receive enough premiums to continue covering all healthcare costs. This may mean that the premium will increase, as healthcare costs, particularly for non-contracted mental health care (GGZ) and district nursing, are rising. We believe that the unlimited choice of one shouldn't mean that another pays more for quality care. Therefore, we choose to adjust the reimbursement for mental health care and district nursing so that you can maintain your freedom of choice. Read more about non-contracted care and our rates. The mandatory excess applies to most reimbursements covered by basic insurance, including terms and conditions. Check the complete terms and conditions in advance.
