Overdue insurance premium

Sometimes bills pile up and you lose track of them. If you don't pay your insurance premium for a long period of time, it can cause upleasant consequences. After 6 monthes or more, we unfortunately have to report you to the CAK (Central Administration Office) for the healthcare premium payment plan (in Dutch only).

You can find this overview in Mijn Zilveren Kruis (in Dutch only). If part of the outstanding amount has already been handed over to the debt collection agency, please contact them directly.

Consequences of being behind on payments

Besides payment reminders, you will also receive letters at 2, 4, and 6 months about the legal healthcare premium arrears scheme. The CAK enforces this law. If you don’t pay your premium for 6 months, we have to report you to the CAK for this scheme.

What happens if I am reported to the CAK?

You still have to pay us the outstanding amount, but it will always be more than the premium you paid before. The CAK will deduct the premium from your salary, or you will receive a monthly payment request from the Central Judicial Collection Agency (CJIB). If you receive healthcare allowance, this will go to the CJIB. You will pay the remaining premium through the CJIB payment requests. If you don’t pay, the CAK can eventually seize your belongings.

I want to be removed from the CAK list

There are 3 situations where we can remove you:

  • When the outstanding amount is fully paid, we will remove you from the 1st of the month after your last payment.
  • If you have an agreement for debt counselling or the Debt Restructuring Scheme (WSNP), a debt counsellor will help you make an overview of your finances and provide a plan to solve your arrears. Contact your municipality or a debt counselling agency for this.
  • If you have made a payment arrangement with us for the full outstanding amount, you will get a temporary removal. Please contact us to arrange this.

If the entire outstanding amount has already been handed over to a collection agency, please contact them directly to find out your options.

Can I get supplementary insurance again?

If you’ve paid all your outstanding payments, you can take out supplementary insurance again from next year. Please contact us for this.
