The CAK (in Dutch only) has several tasks. The institute checks if everyone is insured according to the Health Insurance Act (Zorgverzekeringswet (Zw)) and the Wet langdurige zorg (wlz). They also carry out the Defaulters scheme (Regeling Wanbetalers) (in Dutch only).

Have you had payment arrears for 6 months or more? And you haven't paid or objected? Then we will register you with CAK (in Dutch only).

CAK will then start collecting your premium. You will pay 130% of the regular premium. CAK will deduct the amount from your salary or social security. Your employer or benefits agency is required to co-operate. If this is impossible, then CAK will seize your possessions.

Do you already have a payment plan with us? Then we will not register you with CAK.

Yes, you do. The premium of your current healthcare insurance will be paid to CAK. Simultaneously you will need to pay of your debt at Zilveren Kruis. That applies to the payment arrears on your premium as well as for the excess and statutory contribution. Not until you are debt free will we cancel your registration at CAK. You will no longer be a defaulter.

Note: most of these options are available in Dutch only.

No, you can't. You can't cancel when you still have debts. We discourage you to take out healthcare insurance with another insurer. You will have double insurance and will have to pay premium twice.

Have you paid your premium arrears? Then you can take out supplementary insurance again as of 1 January the following year. When you apply for dental insurance with 3 or 4 stars a medical assessment is necessary.
