Pay your excess in instalments
You pay the first part of your healthcare costs yourself. This is called the mandatory excess. You can choose to pay your excess in 10 instalments in advance to spread the costs and have better control of your expenses. This can be useful if you expect to use your mandatory excess in full.
If you apply now, you will start paying your excess in instalments from 2026.
This is how it works:
- You activate it before the 1st of February. If you activate it after the 1st of February, the scheme will start on the 1st of January the following year.
- You will pay your excess in 10 instalments of €38.50.
- The first payment will be on the 27th of February and the last on the 27th of November.
- This payment option is available for both yourself and those co-insured ersons over the age of 18.
- If you continue with the scheme, you will pay your mandatory excess in instalments again next year.
- If we can't deduct the payment twice due to insufficient funds, we will stop the scheme.
The application is successful if:
- you pay by direct debit.
- your excess does not exceed €385.
We will refund any unused excess
At the end of April, we will refund the part of your mandatory excess you did not use. If you still have outstanding bills with us, we will deduct that amount from your refund. Sometimes healthcare providers send their bills to us late. Therefore, you might receive a bill after April and have to pay excess for it. If that happens, we will let you know.
