The basic insurance is mandatory in the Netherlands. The government determines what is covered and is the same with each healthcare insurer. The basic insurance premium does not depend on your age. Each basic insurance covers, among other things:
Zilveren Kruis is the leading collective healthcare insurer. More than 15.000 employers have arranged collective healthcare insurance with us for their employees. We also have collective insurances for sports associations and member organizations. Advantages of collective healthcare insurance:
You do not pay premium or excess for children younger than 18. Sometimes you have to pay a personal contribution. Do you have a Basis Budget package? Your children will automatically receive the same package. Do you or your partner have supplementary insurance? Your children will also receive the same supplementary package as the parent with the most extensive supplementary package.
The excess for 2017 is € 385. This means that you will pay the an amount of € 385 first before the basic insurance reimburses medical costs. The excess applies per calendar year and only to the basic insurance.
You can increase your voluntary excess for 2017 up to a maximum of € 885 for a lower insurance premium. However, you will pay a higher amount for medical costs.
