Tips about deductible health costs and care benefits

You may be able to save money by deducting health costs. Or are you entitled to care benefits?

Some health costs are tax deductible

This concerns specific health costs (in Dutch only). These are cost for physiotherapy, oral hygiene, transport and assistive devices for example. Certain terms and conditions (in Dutch only) apply to deduct these costs. You can only health costs above a certain amount: the so-called threshold amount (drempelbedrag).

 

Have you deducted health costs in your tax return?

Pay little or no taxes after deducting health costs? Then you might be eligible for compensation. Find more information on the Tax Authorities website (in Dutch only). Being chronically ill or handicapped might entail extra medical costs. Sometimes you can obtain money for these costs from local authorities. Ask your local authorities for more information.
