Pay your excess ahead in instalments

Is your excess a substantial amount? Do you expect to use it all up? It is good to know that you can arrange a payment in instalments ahead. You will pay the 2019 excess in 10 instalments. The 1st instalment is in February. Even if you don’t have any medical costs yet you will pay a monthly instalment.

Log in to Mijn Zilveren Kruis (in Dutch only) with your DigiD to stop the payments, but do so before 1 January.

Frequently asked questions

The following situation applies, if you haven’t used up all your excess at the end of the year.

  • You don’t have any outstanding costs with us. At the end of April the following year we will automatically pay back the outstanding amount.

Should we receive bills after April, you will receive a claims overview. The amount is charged separately.

​We will debit the amount around the 27th of every month between February and November. The amounts are stated separately on your bank statement.
​No you won’t receive any notice. The current overview is always available in Mijn Zilveren Kruis (in Dutch only).
​The arrangement always starts and stops per 1 January. If you register between 1 January and 1 February the arrangement will start retroactively. You will receive  confirmation of your application via e-mail. The arrangement is automatically renewed each year unless you have cancelled your insurance policy before 1 February. You will receive notice about the renewal before 1 January.
We do this to avoid strange rounding off differences. Because insured persons can switch insurances up to 1 February we don’t credit until 27 February.
Yes, this is still a possibility. You can always apply via Mijn Zilveren Kruis under ‘Mijn financieel overzicht’ (available in Dutch only). Pre-payment is convenient when you expect to pay costs that fall under your excess early in the year.
